The situation

KPI data was collected manually in Excel, which introduced errors.
SharePoint-based tracking made reporting slow and inconsistent.
Manual work delayed insight, and therefore decisions.

A cloud data platform for KPI management, built on AWS.
Automated collection and processing in place of manual compilation.
A three-year phased plan to move the data off Excel.

What this means for an Indian department

Thirteen municipalities reporting indicators to one regional body face the same problem as a state directorate consolidating returns from its urban local bodies: the figures are compiled by hand, arrive late, and cannot be reconciled. It is the same DCB and MIS problem under a different name.
